Rationale: the best companies, large or
small, belong to associations where they can work together to pool
resources for insurance, training and networking. To be truly
“professional” you need to be active in one or two associations
including working on a committee. This is how you get known in your
field and to prospective clients. Many associations have special
membership categories for new, small and emerging businesses with very
low dues for the first couple of years. Do not underestimate the
importance of this step! Don’t postpone this, thinking you will have
more time later. The people you will get to know and the training you
will receive make this an essential step now – early.
